Prayer Stix are part of the creative prayer programme, from Destination.
Get hold of some lolly sticks or tong depressors that doctors use (new not used) I got some coloured ones from a shop called Wilkinson. Simply write your prayers on them and place them where you like. We decided to put them around school and placed them in locations where they wouldn't get removed by the cleaning staff. We put general prayers on the Stix, so when they were found and read they would not be esoteric, and so everyone could get what they were.
Prayer rocks.
Prayer rocks are part of the creative prayer programme, from Destination
Get some pebbles from the garden centre and using paint pens write a bible verse on them that relates to the prayers you are praying, then take the rock and place it in the garden or other place so they can be found but would not normally be seen.
The idea is that you pray something and God hears it, just because you are not there or have gone to another place or prayer doesn't mean the prayer is lost. The rock symbolises the security of the prayer.
Flame prayers - useful for Holy Spirit teaching
Use red, yellow or orange paper, cut into flame shapes. Use these to write on prayers for people that need the Holy Spirit to help them (either the group members themselves, or their friends, families, clusters etc). Stick these together in a big collage and all pray over them.
Worry buckets
Equipment needed: Buckets of water, stones.
Give everyone a stone. Ask them to close their eyes and grip the stone, imagining that all the things they worry about (and you may want to give examples such as wars, sickness, sadness etc) are in that stone. Lead them through the process by giving space for them to quietly tell God about each of these things, then encouraging them to drop them into the buckets of water as a symbol of letting go of these worries and letting God take care of them. This prayer time needs to have enough space in it for people to respond and let God speak, without it becoming boring! If it helps, play suitable music in the background.
More prayer rocks to come.. so go out and get some pebbles
